It’s pretty cool having an animal that can spot incoming intruders from the hillside perch. Maybe it’s the motion below, or this cat just hates predators. With a new wolf pack killing sheep 20 miles south of here, all my fences are being reinforced, underlying brush cleared, plus another livestock guardian animal added.

This is the season for mountain quail, but little did I know they’d build their nests in the middle of a bull thistle patch. I guess we’ll have to live with the weeds for a few more weeks…..
